HOME IN SPACE

FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION | Analog Light & Color Experience
JANUARY 20 - MARCH 19
LOS ANGELES

Astrothebaptist interacts and transforms a single source of white light using dichroic beamsplitters to reflect and transmit different parts of the color spectrum against a surface. The multi-dimensional form is at the intersection of painting, sculpture, light, space, and architecture exploring the depth of color and energy.

“In my first ever solo exhibition, 'Home in Space', I invite viewers to join me on a journey into the infinite reaches of the cosmos to a place where the details of everyday life fade away.

Through the manipulation of different wavelengths of light energy, I find myself shaping light like it’s a physical object.  When gazing at all the colors and shapes on a canvas, my perspective shifts as if looking at the world from a distance. This experience leads me to explore the unknown, find compassion, and even feel at home for a moment.

I hope that my exhibit, 'Home in Space', will inspire viewers to think about their own sense of home and the connections we all have to the wider world around us.”
